Kiene Diesel Accessories is a small manufacturing company located in the Chicago, Illinois, USA area. Kiene’s Truck Service Product Group manufactures service equipment and shop tools for heavy-duty truck and bus maintenance facilities.

Kiene was founded in approximately 1948 by William Kiene. Mr. Kiene was an engineer on an ore boat on the Great Lakes with responsibility for maintenance of the main propulsion engines. He developed a range of successful products for use on large-bore engines (as used on marine vessels). He then went on to develop a line of service equipment for use on high-speed (truck-type) diesel engines such as International Harvester, Cummins and Detroit Diesel. These products were focused primarily on the fuel injection system. This was the beginning of our Truck Service Equipment products

In the late 1960’s, William Kiene had retired, and management of Kiene Diesel Accessories was assumed by C.W. Craychee Sr. Mr. Craychee had been Manager of Diesel Sales at Bacharach Industrial Instrument Company, and so was very familiar with the Kiene products and markets. Mr. Craychee developed sales of Kiene products into all markets, but in particular, sales to the major OEM’s and to the military were expanded. In addition, new products were added to the Kiene truck service equipment line. These included engine and transmission rebuild stands and fuel injection nozzle cleaning and inspection equipment.

In recent years, product development has been expanded to cover tools and equipment for servicing all parts of the truck, with a focus on improving safety and productivity. This resulted in the addition of many unique and innovative tools to the Kiene line including the Clutch Caddy, Brake Job Buddy and Tweakster.

Most of these tools begin with truck mechanics in the field who bring their ideas to Kiene. Kiene then develops these tool ideas, evaluates marketability and then manufactures them. Agreements are then made to compensate the inventor.
